This autumn, we’re thrilled to bring the joy of birthday celebrations back to our drop-in playtime at New West Family Place! This is the first time we have offered a birthday party for our families since before the pandemic, and what a treat it was to celebrate our littlest friends.
Celebrating Together
You may notice that we now have a birthday sign up sheet at our front entrance: if you would like your child’s birthday included in our monthly celebration, be sure to sign up! Birthday celebrations are a part of our new “Eat, Play, Love” programming near the end of each month. We sing happy birthday to our friends at Circle time and share a lunch with cupcakes. This is all about making every child feel special, and we’ve prepared some exciting surprises for our little ones.
A Special Gift to Take Home
In October, in collaboration with the New Westminster Public Library’s Books for BC Babies literacy program, each October baby received a delightful birthday package that included a few carefully selected books. Reading is such an important part of early development, and we’re excited to foster a love of literature in our youngest community members. But the fun doesn’t stop there! We’ve also included a variety of arts and crafts supplies to spark creativity and imagination. From colorful paper to stickers and markers, kids will have everything they need to create their own masterpieces. Best of all, we are including a “Birthday in a box” party package put together by local teen, Megan, and her mom as part of their Neighbourhood Small Grant for 2024 (read about it here).
