Strengthen New West’s Community Bonds with a Neighbourhood Small Grant!

Ever had an idea that could bring people together, but weren’t sure how to make it happen? Host a parents’ gathering, organize a community art project, run a gardening workshop, or deliver care packages to isolated neighbors! You can make it happen with a Neighbourhood Small Grant (NSG) in New Westminster!

What is a Neighbourhood Small Grant?

New Westminster Family Place is excited to administer a second year of NSGs, providing up to $500 to help turn your community-building ideas into reality. These grants focus on strengthening connections, sharing skills, and reducing social isolation. It doesn’t matter if you’re an individual or part of an informal group. You don’t need to be a registered business or organization to apply!

What Can You Do with an NSG?

The possibilities are endless! Here are just a few inspiring ideas:

Teach a Skill – Host a cooking class, knitting circle, or music workshop.

Host a Gathering – Plan a cultural celebration, storytelling night, or block party.

Create Something Beautiful – Organize a mural project, community garden, or free book exchange.

Spread Kindness – Deliver care packages, write letters to seniors, or set up a free swap meet.

Best of all, every project funded by an NSG must be free for your community to enjoy!

How Does It Work?

So, now that you are inspired, it is time to apply! Here are a few things you need to know:

You can receive up to $500 to cover materials, services, or transportation costs.

If someone is teaching a skill, you can request up to $350 as an honorarium to recognize their time and effort.

Your project can take place online or in-person, depending on what works best for your community.

Application Period: March 7 – April 15, 2025.

Project Completion Deadline: November 30, 2025.

You must live in New Westminster and ensure your project happens within the city.
